I'm author ELLE STRAUSS and welcome to my website!

I write fun, lower Young Adult (teen) fiction to do with whimsical things like time-travel, fairies and merfolk.

When my serious side peeks out, she's called LEE STRAUSS. She likes to write upper YA about real things that have happened in the past, or made up things that could quite possibly happen in the future.

This blog is about books, mine and other fab authors', but occasionally I'll share about other topics.

Thanks for dropping by!

Living Upside Down

I have to get used to a new rhythm of life when I'm in Europe. When I'm in Canada, I live on the west coast, which means that by the time I get up, my east coast friends have been busy working and chatting for at least three hours. Once my laptop is booted up, I'm jumping into the stream of emails and blogs and breaking news. There's this pressure to catch up.

In Germany it's midnight or later in North America when I wake up in the morning. The blogosphere is quiet. I practically live my whole day before my friends on the west coast wake up. Now I have to wait until the afternoon to jump into the stream and it's still going gung-ho by the time I go to bed. I feel like I miss all the good stuff. :)

The silver lining is that I have no excuses now to not get directly to the work of writing, so in the long run, I think that will be a good thing for my productivity.

With that I'll leave you with some photos of what I've been doing while you've been sleeping.

Joel Strauss
Joel showed me how to take the transit into downtown Dresden and we spent a wonderful leisurely day hanging out together. He left on the train for Berlin this morning for a couple days, and is moving to Ontario on Thursday. I'm happy we had this time to spend with each other.

Today I plan on working on VOLITION, book 2 in the Perception series. PERCEPTION (as Lee Strauss) is launching on the 12th! I'm excited and nervous!!

How about you? Are you working on anything right now?

  1. Great pics! And there's nothing wrong with jumping in to productivity first thing upon waking. (Yeah, I'd have a hard time getting used to that. lol)

  2. The best of luck with everything over there and with your novel.
I'm just getting back into writing after the summer and I am trying to find a balance and schedule that will work.

  5. Girl! I'm dying, but you know my story. Look at those LOVELY pictures! I would love to visit Germany. I hear ya, though about feeling out of sync. One time I got a job and lost it all in the course of one night thanks to Jessica Bell (aka, Alliterative Allomorph). She was emailing me from Greece, so you know. :D LOL! Ahh, that silly time difference. Enjoy your time abroad~ <3
