Tonight is the premiere of season five of Castle, and I'm going to miss it!! Boo. DD promises to record the series for me, but I won't be able to watch any of it until November, so I won't be following #castle on twitter or on-line entertainment stories that will spoil it for me. I hope I can stay away :).
However, I have been to a lot of castles lately, part of our 25th wedding anniversary trip. Here's what we've seen so far (and that's probably it).
Nuremberg:
Passau:
Salzberg:
Neuschwanstein:
Heidelberg:
All these places are much bigger than they look in the pictures and have fantastic stories, many going back hundreds of years.
How about you? Are you a castle fan or a Castle fan? Are you watching tonight? If so, don't tell me!
I'm author ELLE STRAUSS and welcome to my website!
I write fun, lower Young Adult (teen) fiction to do with whimsical things like time-travel, fairies and merfolk.
When my serious side peeks out, she's called LEE STRAUSS. She likes to write upper YA about real things that have happened in the past, or made up things that could quite possibly happen in the future.
This blog is about books, mine and other fab authors', but occasionally I'll share about other topics.
Thanks for dropping by!

How fun! Happy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to Castle tonight. Have no idea where they're going to go with this season!
I know. The change in direction it appears the have to take will either make or break the season.
DeleteThat one at Neuschwanstein is particularly impressive. I haven't seen Castle but was impressed by Nathan Fillion in Firefly and Serenity.
ReplyDeleteNeuschwantein is a relatively young castle built in the late 1800s by King Ludwig II who died mysteriously after living there only 170 days. It was never completed. This is the castle Walt Disney used as his inspiration for Disneyland.
DeleteAnd it's a fake, just a pseudo-medieval stage set for Wagner operas (which Ludwig was crazy about), not a real living place like all the others. Annoys me to no end that it's often used for a symbol of Germany when there are so many real and much better castles there.
DeleteSalzburg is amazing though, isn't it? I lived just across the border from there, 45 minutes away.
oh, I love castles! Hubs has been to CR (Prague) & Germany, but I've never been to either. I would LOVE to visit these places! Happy anniversary~ <3 :o)
ReplyDeleteYou have to visit Europe! It's a must!!:)
DeleteI think actual castles. :) When I was in Strasbourg, France, we went to one. It was pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of both the show and the buildings! ;) I can't wait to see Castle's season opener tonight! It's one of the few shows I actually watch when it airs instead of waiting until the season becomes available on DVD or Netflix. Have fun on the rest of your trip!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Castle, but I'm totally a fan of castles! Someday I want to visit all the castles in Europe!
ReplyDeleteYou'll need a long time to do that!! :)
